WASHINGTON (AP) – A large wind farm off the coast of Massachusetts is approaching federal approval, establishing what the Biden administration hopes might be a mannequin for a surge in offshore wind energy growth on alongside the east coast.
The Winery Wind venture, south of Martha’s Winery close to Cape Cod, would create 800 megawatts of electrical energy, sufficient to energy 400,000 houses in New England. If authorised, the $ 2 billion venture could be the primary utility-scale wind energy growth in federal waters. A smaller wind farm operates close to Block Island in waters managed by the state of Rhode Island.
