Internationally recognized Dr. Peter Center in Vancouver brings VitalHub’s eMAR to life

TORONTO, December 8, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – VitalHub Corp. (the “Company” or “VitalHub”) (TSX: VHI) is proud to announce that a ten year old client, the Dr Peter Center (the “Center”), has completed the implementation and commissioning of VitalHub Electronic medication administration record (“eMAR”) and Creation of electronic drug prescriptions (“eMOC”) modules.

The Dr. Peter Center is the only HIV / AIDS Day health program and 24 hour inpatient nursing residence in British Columbia and is recognized as the first health care facility in North America to integrate services of consumption supervised in this model of care. The Center is a leader in the field of HIV / AIDS, particularly for people with multiple medical conditions and social barriers. The Dr Peter Center plays a critical role in ensuring that people have access to highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) for the treatment of HIV / AIDS, which prolongs patients’ lives in treatment and helps prevent transmission of the HIV virus .

The center has been using VitalHub’s B Care EHR solution as the facility’s health information record (HIR) and electronic medical record (EMR) system since 2009. Prior to the implementation of B Care, all documentation was written on paper. Initial implementation included the ability to record admissions, discharges, transfers (ADTs), client demographics, specific HIV and diagnostic information, clinical notes, and client contacts to support both the 24 inpatient beds and all of the Centre’s community programs.

Over the course of the relationship additional modules and functionality were added to support their programming and to accommodate improved workflows. Dr. Peter Center uses B Care to support the delivery of inpatient services and the facility’s very large outpatient population through a variety of programs.

VitalHub’s SOU and eMAR modules are used for hospital (residential) and community (day health) programs. The SOU allows electronic order entry of prescriptions. Once the drugs are received by the Center, the nursing records the administration of the drugs in the eMAR. The SOU supports real-time communication between the Center and the external pharmacy. The solution allows eMAR nursing to quickly and easily be aware of when a drug should be administered, and when it has been administered, or not, which is of equal importance. It also tracks drugs that require secondary verification, such as narcotics, and those that require documentation of their effectiveness.

“The VitalHub implementation eMAR solution has enabled us to progress exponentially ahead of the Centre’s digital transformation. Switching from a paper-based Medication Administration Register (MAR) to an electronic MAR is more efficient and reduces the risk of error, and as an organization that is committed to safe and compassionate care it is d ‘of utmost importance to us,’ said Rosalind Baltzer Türje, director of clinical, research and evaluation programs at the Dr Peter Center.

“Our clients successfully fulfill a mandate of enriching the lives and experiences of the clients they serve. The Dr Peter Center is an exceptional organization with which we are proud to have a long-standing relationship. The fact that our technology has been with them for many years and continues to provide them with benefits is very important to us. We have a number of clients across the country who are focused on providing services to people living with HIV and being a technology partner for them is very important to us, ”said Dan Matlow, President and CEO , VitalHub.
