Ministry of Justice begins implementing online visa payment

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights begins to implement the policy of electronic visa on arrival (e-VoA) and e-Visa payment (gateway of payment).

“The payment gateway is a collective effort to provide convenient immigration services and support the national investment climate,” Acting Director General of Immigration at the Ministry Widodo Ekatjahjana noted on Sunday.

This policy aligns with Regulation No. 157/PMK.02/2022 of the Minister of Finance which authorizes the payment by visa of State non-tax revenue (PNBP) to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights from November 4, 2022.

This regulation approves the payment gateway as the visa payment method, whether it is e-VoA or e-Visa. Previously, payment could only be made by billing code and cash for VoA.

The payment gateway is a mechanism that reads and transfers customer payment information to the provider’s bank account. The system will capture data, ensure availability of funds and facilitate payment.

“This payment gateway is specifically for visa payment. It would allow payment by credit card, mastercard debit card, visa and JCB,” Ekatjahjana added.

He is optimistic that this system will largely unlock the potential of tourism and the economy in Indonesia while at the same time serving as a milestone for the innovation of the public service of the Directorate General of Immigration.

Finally, the policy should have a positive impact on the economy, in particular on the tourism sector, notably by facilitating multinational trade agreements and potentially creating new jobs.

“The establishment of a payment gateway in the visa system aims to reduce the queue for payment of visa on arrival at the bank counter,” he added.

Earlier, in a statement on Thursday, Ekatjahjana noted that the e-VoA and payment gateway will be inaugurated on November 9, 2022 or before the G20 summit in Bali.
