Trade: The Jaguars send quarterback Gardner Minshew II to the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional sixth-round pick in 2022, the sources say. The 6th round pick could go to a 5th if Minshew plays 50 percent of the games in three games this season.

This offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers have not hesitated to go out and bring in guys to help this team. This has been a pleasant surprise for a franchise that is generally content to stand tall and not make waves in the offseason.
So with this new aggressive stance on the roster, it was somewhat surprising to find that quarterback Gardner Minshew II was in the market and the asking price was just a conditional fifth round pick. The Jacksonville Jaguars traded Minshew to the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday.
Understand that we don’t know if the Steelers were aware of or interested in Minshew as a quarterback. But objectively speaking, the Steelers’ Minshew is automatically the team’s second-best quarterback by a wide margin. For a team that may be looking for a replacement for Ben Roethlisberger, Minshew would have made a nice backup plan.
