The Arewa Youth Assembly has called on prominent Nigerians and business tycoons to join the race to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Arewa youth made the call in a statement titled “Private Sector Actors to Join the 2023 Presidential Race” and jointly signed by its President, Mohammed Danlami and National Registrar, Desmond Minakaro.

The group wondered why those who work in the private sector and those who have built a career would leave the management of the country to unqualified individuals.

According to the Arewa Youths, people like Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Mike Adenuga among others are set to save Nigeria from its current state by contesting the 2023 elections.

Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that Olujonwo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has pledged to support Yemi Osinbajo if he joins the presidential race.

Naija News reports that this was announced in a Facebook post on Saturday by Buhari’s special adviser on political issues, Babafemi Ojudu.

Ojodu, who works in the vice president’s office, revealed that Olujonwo visited him on Friday to register his wish for Osinbajo to join the 2023 race to succeed President Buhari.

He revealed that Obasanjo’s son had pledged to join Osinbajo’s campaign team if he decided to announce his presidential ambition.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has insisted the North will produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in the 2023 elections.

Naija News reports that the governor of Bauchi revealed this when a contact and consultation committee he set up for his presidential ambitions delivered their report to him on Friday.

According to Bala Mohammed, those pushing for the transfer of power to the south are those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and not the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said the North still had four years left, based on the DPP arrangement, stressing that there was no justification for the South to get the presidency.

Former Imo State Governor Rochas Owelle Okorocha said Nigeria is not finished despite the challenges the country is facing.

The remains of a murdered student from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Timothy Adegoke, have been laid to rest amidst tears.

Naija News reports that the 37-year-old Masters in Business Administration student has passed away in controversial circumstances.

It was collected that Adegoke’s remains were brought to Eruwa town hall in a white coffin with hundreds of youths present.

The accountant’s body was buried next to the house he built for his parents in the New Eruwa part of Eruwa town. Eruwa is the seat of Ibarapa East Local Government Area in Oyo State, according to The PUNCH.

A former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala will be laid to rest on February 18, 2022.

Naija News recalls that Otunba Alao-Akala died on January 12, 2022, at the age of 71.

In a statement released by his family, the activities for the burial of the remains of Alao-Akala will begin on February 14, 2022 with the tributes of the political class of Oyo State.

An evening of praise will be held for the Ogbomoso-born politician at his residence in Ogbomoso on Tuesday.

While on Wednesday it will be for his home state of Oyo state government.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reviewed bank charges and tariffs, including ATM maintenance fees; Electronic fund transfers and group payments.

This has been disclosed in the new “Guide to Fees Charged by Other Financial and Non-Financial Institutions” from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

According to the apex bank, the directive applies to fees charged by banks other financial and non-financial institutions under their license or regulation.

According to the document obtained by Naija News, the CBN has reduced fees associated with certain transactions, including standing order (in-branch) fees; ATM maintenance fees; electronic funds transfers; and bulk payments.

Governor David Umahi has asked former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to leave him out of the issue rocking the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

Reacting to a statement credited to Atiku, Umahi the former vice president and the PDP stopped linking him to their misfortunes.

Atiku had, through Raymond Dokpesi, the Chairman of the Technical Committee for Atiku Abubakar Presidential Ambition Actualization, described Umahi as heartless for unfairly sealing off Ebonyi’s PDP secretariat and keeping it in detention of the party spokesperson in police custody.

Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electric (IE) Plc on Saturday explained the reasons for the outage currently being experienced by customers of their networks in Lagos State.

According to the companies, the power cuts are caused by a drop in electricity production.

In its statement, EKEDC said the outages were due to power generation dropping from an average of 3,700 MW to 2,000 MW per hour.

Ogun State Police Command arrested teenagers in Oke Aregbe neighborhood in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, after they were caught burning a girl’s head .

It was established that the girl was in a relationship with one of them before being killed for a money ritual.

Community security guard Segun Adewusi observed in the early hours of Saturday as the boys burned something suspected to be a human head in a local pot on the road.

Adewusi immediately contacted police from Adatan station, who came to the scene to arrest three of the boys, while one of them fled before the police arrived.
